Man! This was a blast. Clearlight Orchestra is a 7 piece indie band that toured North America back in the 70′s-mid 80′s doing Pink Floyd covers. They have reunited in the past couple of years and have started writing and recording again and because they are now getting air-play in England for the new stuff, their old fans started to raise a big hullabaloo about wanting to see them in action. So the guys organized this little fete in a warehouse. They arranged for lighting, backdrops, a sound system and invited a couple hundred of their closest friends over for some beer and music, BYOB of course. The web feed of the concert got well over 1000 hits and the night was a huge success.
I shot this gig in all ambient light at high ISO and wide apertures and almost exclusively with the 24-70 giving me a really cool shallow depth of field. This let me isolate the band and make it look like a much bigger formal venue.
The group photo above is now the official poster image for the relaunched Clearlight Orchestra.
